Girls Trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina | Summer 2024
At the beginning of this year I realized I was in need of quality time with my girl friends, and I had a feeling I knew some other girlies that could use it too.
With that idea, I created a years worth of girl-dates that blended all of my closest girls together: my sister-in-law, my bonus sister, and my best friend.
While we are each in different walks and stages of life, we are connected through love and family, and each in need of the things that can only be found in a girls-girl relationship: A listening ear, someone to cheer you on or cry with you, people that celebrate your wins as if they were their own, and people who allow you to be your full self.
Next year I plant to review all of our 2024 girl dates in a blog post, but today I want to talk about our inaugural girls beach trip!
Since it was planned on short notice, we only stayed one night in Hilton Head, SC, but we packed as much as we could into 48 hours.
Here Was Our Itinerary:
8:00am - Depart Augusta
11:00am - Arrive in Hilton Head
Pick up Publix Subs and head to the beach
11:30am - Coligny Beach
4:00pm - Check into hotel / Get ready for dinner
6:30pm - Dinner at Hudson’s
End the night relaxing at the hotel
10:00am - Breakfast at Carolina Coffee & Crumbs
11:00am - Shopping and Adventuring
Late lunch before heading home
I can confirm that a Publix Sub tastes 10x better when you are sitting on a beach, listening to the waves, and chatting with your friends.
After the beach, we went back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.
Our plan was to go to Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks for dinner, but Hilton Head got hit with a downpour of rain at dinner time, which cut down outdoor seating options and increased the wait time to about 2 hours for every restaurant we called.
We didn’t want to eat dinner at 10pm, so we moved to a backup plan instead. However, I highly recommend Hudson’s if you have the chance to go. It is my favorite seafood spot on the island!
We found a Mexican restaurant, thinking it would be our safety net since our go-to restaurant is always Mexican back home, but to be honest it was not the best and we were kind of disappointed with dinner…but we made up for it the next day.
We went back to our hotel after dinner, to enter into the slumber party part of the evening.
Our hotel was so great! We stayed at Courtyard Hilton Head Island, which was a convenient walk to Coligny Beach and the shops at Coligny Plaza. The hotel was clean and beautiful, with a cute little rooftop pool and beach views.
This may make me the most extra human being you will ever meet, but I also brought along a little summer party decoration for our room to make it extra special and festive! It also made for a cute photo op in our room.
After getting into our jammies, we tried to make charm necklaces. This was a great idea in theory, but I was not prepared for how challenging it would be to actually assemble the necklaces, lol. We packed that activity up and opted to end the night with a comedy special on Netflix instead. But don’t worry, the necklaces were finished after I got home and bought the correct supplies.
The next morning, we got ready, packed up, and walked over to Carolina Coffee and Crumbs for breakfast.
While the restaurant was packed and a little chaotic (because we were surrounded by tons of other families and bachelorette parties), the food was delicious! I ordered the “Build Your Own Sammie” (and got a chuckle, because my name is Sami), with bacon, egg, and cheese, a side of hash browns, and a cold brew with cream.
We sat on the patio, which was far less chaotic, and we were entertained by a little live music and serenading.
We had all heard rave reviews of Duck Donuts, we decided that would be our next stop after breakfast (though I saved my donuts to share with my husband when I got home).
I got a half dozen and chose Strawberry Confetti, Glazed, Glazed w/ Raspberry Filling, Chocolate Iced, Blueberry, and Maple.
If you love cake donuts, I would highly recommend giving Duck Donuts a try! The cake was moist and flavorful, and the donuts are made to order!
No girls trip is complete without shopping bags…or bag shopping. ;)
My main goal was to purchase a Michael Kors bag that I had been saving for, after that was accomplished we also browsed through Under Armor, Adidas, Vera Bradley, Simply Southern, Aerie, Famous Footwear, The Cosmetic Company Store, and Old Navy…and we cooled off with a little sweet treat from Ben & Jerry’s of course!
Since we missed out on a seafood dinner the night before, we made reservations for a late lunch/early dinner at Skull Creek Dockside before we drove back home.
I ordered fish & chips with fries and mac and cheese. It was all delicious, but there was so much food I couldn’t finish it all.
That was the end of our 48 hour girls trip to Hilton Head Island!
We could never have enough time together and of course we wish the trip was longer, but it was so nice to get away for a couple days and enjoy non-stop girl talk, sunshine, and yummy treats.
I hope you enjoyed this little travel blog! I can’t wait to tell you all about another adventure soon! <3
